Ken Burns UNUM
[producer // editor]
For the past three years, I have had the privilege of working with an incredible team to create UNUM, a new digital platform from filmmaker Ken Burns. Using scenes from Ken’s library of work, UNUM seeks to bring historical context to current events. In 2020, we launched a new web series called UNUM Shorts. These short films take a moment from Ken’s films and connect it directly to today. The first episode was published in partnership with The New York Times, and the latest was featured on The Washington Post. You can check them out below. All of the UNUM Shorts are available here.
Collaborating with a small team, I helped take UNUM from an idea to a fully-formed web experience. I worked closely with designers and developers to create a sleek, easy-to-use interface, while curating clips, educational resources, and opinion pieces to supplement the film scenes. Users can explore curated themes, including immigration, leadership, and division, or surface new connections by browsing through clips in the timeline.
